
Professor Tomasz Miczka graduated from the K. Szymanowski Music Academy of Katowice, from the oboe class of prof. Edward Mandera. Right after having finished his studies, he became oboist of then Polish Radio & TV Symphony Orchestra.
As a member of this ensemble, he gave concerts in many countries of Europe, Asia, North and South America. He performed under the baton of such conductors as Leonard Bernstein, Kurt Masur, Jan Krenz, Witold Lutosławski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Antoni Wit or Gabriel Chmura.
Apart from his symphony orchestra career, prof. Miczka is successful as a soloist and in the field of chamber music as well. He was a member of the Polish Radio & TV Symphony Orchestra’s wind trio, now he performs with the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra’s wind quintet. He performed also on many CD and archival recordings.
Professor Miczka started to teach in 1981, in the K. Szymanowski Music High School of Katowice. As a result of the registration and conferment, he obtained a doctoral degree in 1993 and then he habilitated, in 1999.
Since 2002 he has been Music Academy of Katowice’s professor, where he performed the function of Department of Wind Instruments and Percussion’s director. In 2005, he was appointed to the post of the vice president of the Music Academy. Many of his students won prizes in musical contests.
Prof. Miczka is also the music director of the Oboe & Bassoon Master Classes in Rycerka
